September 2012 Company Newsletter: Chicago Life Safety Evaluation Program
In this issue of our newsletter we will explore the City of Chicago’s “High-Rise Building Life Safety Evaluation (LSE) Program”. We will look at how the LSE affects building owners, occupants and contractors. According to the Department of Buildings, there are over 600 residential buildings within the City of Chicago that are subject to this program. Many of these buildings were unaware of the mandated Life Safety standards required within their space, that is until recently. In January of 2012, the City of Chicago notified all buildings owners and/or property managers that were required to submit a LSE report, that they were to provide the city with an update showing progress they have made to ensure their compliance with the Life Safety aspects of the code. Following we take a deeper looking into 1) what is addressed in the LSE Program, and 2) how this affects Building Owners, Property Managers, Occupants and General Contractors alike.
